Earlier on 24th October, Brett. Powell, vice president of Henderson State University of America visited GZU for the further cooperation on Sino-US Talent Development Project. This delegation also includes Dr. Xu xu, director for international student center, and Liu Faqun, vice director of CCIEE. A meeting was held by vice president Zhang Qin and attended by representatives from the International Office, Teaching Office, College of Foreign Languages and School of Music.
Zhang extended her warm welcome and said that GZU is the only university in Guizhou to attend the 121 Dual-degree program under the Sino-Us Talent Development Project, which makes it devote more efforts to making it a reality and to exploring new international education model under the new era. She hoped that this project could make a contribution to exploring the channels of international exchanges and opening up a way to boost the international image of GZU.
Powell briefed the history, academic achievement, featured discipline, enrollment of students, and international cooperation of his university. He said that this visit aimed to refine former discussions and explore future cooperation. He hoped that this project could build a bridge connecting with Chinese universities, enhancing cooperation with GUZ, and boosting diversified cultures.
Liu gave information on this project, adding that this project is an innovation in joint cultivation of talents from both parties, and will effectively way to enhance bilateral cultural exchanges.
A supplementary agreement between GZU and Henderson State University was signed.
Details of cooperation were the focus of the latter discussion.
After the meeting, Powell visited School of Music and College of Foreign Languages.
The 121 Dual-degree program under the Sino-Us Talent Development Project is a new type of higher education exchanges project between China and the United States, which attracted 125 Chinese universities and 41 American ones since kicking off in 2001. GZU started its attendance in December 2017 as the only one in Guizhou. Discussions on curriculum of Foreign Languages and Literatures are done, followed by details of implement. A new discussion on cooperation of School of Music is on the way.
