Earlier on Jan. 16, Jeff David, consul general of Canada in Chongqing, visited Guizhou University and met with Huang Jian, deputy director-general of the Education Department of Guizhou University, and Yang Wei, deputy secretary of the Party committee of GZU, at Meeting Room No.2 of the Administration Building on the North Campus. Representatives from Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province, Offices of International Relations of Education Department and Guizhou University also attended the meeting.
Yang briefed the delegation on basic situations of GZU, adding that GZU, as a foreign aid center under the Ministry of Education and a scientific cooperative base under the Ministry of Science and Technology, emphasizes cooperative exchanges with foreign research organizations and universities including those from Canada. He hopes to further ties with Canadian universities.
Based on limited international education of Guizhou Province and insufficient cooperative channels with Canadian universities, Huang introduced the two-way educational exchanges, hoping to move on in terms of student exchange, staff visit, interscholastic cooperation and professional training.
Jeff David agreed and hoped that more Canadians would come to study in Guizhou in the future, deepening exchanges and cooperation in fields like international study and so on.
Comments on international programs, scientific innovation and short-term training were also given.
