After getting authorized by Hanban, Guizhou University will co-build a Confucious Institute with the University of the Gambia, marking it a second one of GZU. In the afternoon of Dec.14, President Chen Jian met the UTG delegation, signed the MOU of co-building the Confucious Institute and discussed further cooperation in all aspects.
Faqir Muhammad Anjum, President of UTG, said that with the friendly ties between Gambia and China, he wants to get help from GZU in agriculture, sciences and medicine via this visit, thus to improve the social and economic development of Gambia.
Chen Jian gave a brief introduction of GZU, adding that the comprehensive and deepened development meets the need of GZU, and to follow the national project of world-class universities and subjects construction, GZU is working hard to build itself a nation-class university with nation-class subjects. Under this background, there are loads of cooperative fields like efficient and featured agriculture.
Academician Song Baoan, representives from Office of International relations, and related colleges have attended the meeting.
Song said that GZU would take advantage of its experience and build a Confucious Institute that suits the basic needs and conditions of Gambia, in the hope to further their cooperation in science and teaching.
Both sides have discussed cooperation in program construction, student and staff exchange and scientific studies.
In the morning of Dec.15, Vice President Zhang Tan and representives from several colleges and the Scientific Park have attended a meeting with the delegation from Gambia.
