Recently, Huang Weiting, a faculty member of the College of Agriculture at Guizhou University, was invited to participate in the International Horticultural Exposition 2024 Chengdu and won the Gold Award in the flower arrangement competition.

Huang’s award-winning work is entitled “Charming Sichuan, Brilliant Future”. Inspired by the natural beauty and future prosperity of Sichuan, Huang ingeniously utilized a variety of flowers such as cymbidiums, moth orchids, and callas. Combined with modern floral techniques including structuring, binding, and pasting, the work showcases the diversity and vitality of Sichuan flowers. The use of bamboo and bamboo hoops in the work not only symbolizes the resilience and unity of the people in Sichuan, but also represents their determination to paint a beautiful future together.

Huang has taught the course “Flower Arrangement Art” for more than ten years, and is dedicated to introducing students to the latest concepts and techniques in floral art. Her classes areinspiring and sophisticated, the most popular elective courses at Guizhou University. Huang is also the editor-in-chief of Flower Arrangement Art and Floral Design, a 14th Five-Year Plan textbook that was officially published in February 2024.
