On February 23rd, a conference on the compilation of products chemistry for Chinese Pesticides Pharmacopoeia was held in Huaxi, Guiyang at the Dacheng Jingshe Hotel. The session was hosted by GZU, and was organized by the State Key Laboratory Breeding Base of Green Pesticide and Agricultural Bioengineering, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, and the Centre of Research and Development of Fine Chemicals of GZU. Attending the meeting were: Song Bao’an, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of GZU, and Editor-in-chief of Chinese Pesticides Pharmacopoeia; Zhang Wenjun, Deputy General Agronomist of the National Institute of Agriculture and Rural Pesticide; and Zhang Hongguang, Assistant to the President of China Agricultural Press. Also present were 37 experts from the Agricultural and Rural Pesticide Testing Institute, the Provincial Pesticide Testing Institute, East China University of Science and Technology, and GZU. Zhang Hongjun, Director of the Quality Evaluation Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Pesticide Testing, chaired the session.
Song Bao’an noted that the compilation of the Chinese Pesticides Pharmacopoeia is of great significance, because it will fill a gap in terms of compilation and publication of pesticides pharmacopoeia in China. He stressed that Chinese pesticide experts should be responsible for the compilation of the Chinese Pesticide Pharmacopoeia. He suggested that the compilation should be based on experience gleaned from the industrial development of pesticides in China and also highlight new ideas, new technologies, new theories, and new achievements in the chemical research of pesticide products. He hopes that the Chinese Pesticides Pharmacopoeia will become an authoritative and leading reference book setting systematic standards for the industry of the pesticides product chemistry. He also underscored the importance of heeding normative requirements in the compilation process.
Following President Song’s speech, Zhang Wenjun and Zhang Hongguang talked about the requirements and precautions for the compilation. Experts present exchanged experiences gathered from the preparation phase while discussing in-depth issues of the compilation process. After thorough analysis, particularly on the items related to products chemistry, the standardization of content expressions, and the sources of relevant materials, a uniform template for products chemistry compilation eventually took shape. This has paved the way for the compilation of products chemistry.
Currently, the 10th edition of the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China has been published, as well as the 5th edition of the Veterinary Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China, however there is no published pesticides pharmacopoeia. Conference participants hope that the Chinese Pesticides Pharmacopoeia will close this informational gap after being compiled and published.
