Guizhou University’s College of Enology and Food Engineering was formed after the merger of the former Food and Fermentation discipline at the Guizhou Institute of Technology of the former Guizhou Agricultural College. It consists of the Party and Government Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office (also in charge of affairs of College Youth League Committee), the Division of Teaching and Research, the Department of Enology and Bioengineering as well as the Department of Food Science. The College has 61 faculty members. There are 19 professors, 11 associate professors and three senior researchers. Among the faculty, 23 hold doctoral degrees. The College has two doctoral supervisors and 33 master supervisors. Three teachers are candidates for provincial outstanding young sci & tech professionals. There is one teacher recruited as a 100-level professional and two as thousand-level professionals of Guizhou Province. The College also has one provincial outstanding expert, one provincial outstanding teacher, two academic leaders of the University, and one member of the Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education majoring in the Food Science and Engineering. Currently there are 675 undergraduates and 204 postgraduates enrolled in the College.

It provides one first-level discipline master's program in Food Science and Engineering, and one second-level discipline master's program in Microbiology and Biochemistry. It also provides two professional master's programs in Food Engineering as well as Food Processing and Safety.

The College has one provincial key-special discipline in food and enology engineering, one national-local joint design engineering center, and two provincial key laboratories. The College established four provincial engineering technology centers with research institutes or enterprises. It also founded the Guizhou Liquor Research Institute, Collaborative Innovation Center of Guizhou Famous Liquor and Food Science Engineering Research of Guizhou University.
The College becomes an important base in Guizhou Province for liquor industry, specialty food industry, applied biotechnology personnel training and scientific research. The College takes responsibility both for education and professional cultivation, and lays a solid foundation for its development. By focusing on program design and faculty construction, adhering to talent-cultivation-oriented reform and innovation, and striving for the best, the College pursues advanced education, teaching characteristics and training professionals to enhance the capabilities of research and social services, and to enhance the influence and comprehensive competitiveness of the College. It endeavors to provide supports of professionals and intelligence for the development of liquor industry and specialty food industry in Guizhou Province.
