The College of Management, established in November 2004, has a history of over 70 years and was founded on the basis of the relevant disciplines of the former Guizhou University, Guizhou Agricultural College, and Guizhou University of Technology. Currently, it consists of the following departments and academic centers:

At present, the College has 135 full-time teachers. Among them, there are 26 professors, 53 associate professors and 36 doctoral degree holders. Due to their excellent achievements, some of them are awarded with honorable titles and enjoy special treatment: one 'Leading Talent' of the national 'Ten-Thousand Talent Program', one enjoying special allowance from the State Council, one 'Talent in the New Era' awarded by the Ministry of Education, two Provincial Outstanding Experts, one 'Star Teacher' of Guizhou, and five Leading Experts of Philosophy and Social Science in Guizhou. It has altogether 2,922 students, including 1,589 undergraduates, 1,328 postgraduates, and 5 doctoral candidates.

Among them, Agriculture and Forestry Economic Management is listed as provincial key discipline and First-class State-sponsored discipline. The College, focusing both on theory and practice, aims to cultivate talents equipped with professional and technical skills to solve practical problems as well as innovation consciousness. To achieve the aim and strengthen students' ability of innovation and entrepreneurship, the College set up the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Course” and built the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Base (Creator Space) and 'Teaching Practice Bases' by cooperating with the following companies and enterprises: AVIC Anji Precision Casting Co., Ltd., Guizhou Mingxing Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., Changhe Changyuan Co., Ltd.,, Guizhou Sanruishi Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., Guizhou Enyuxiang Logistics Co., Ltd., Guizhou Daoguxiang Group, and Green Food Association of Meitan County. This brings diversified and high-level practice opportunities for students and thus helps students develop well in their life and professional career.
The College has two first-level discipline doctoral programs in Management Science and Engineering and Agriculture and Forestry Economic Management. Additionally, the College hosts one second-level discipline doctoral program in Industrial Engineering and Management. It also has two first-level discipline master's degree programs in Management Science and Engineering and Agriculture and Forestry Economic Management and one second-level discipline master's degree program in Enterprise Management. The College also jointly set up Tsinghua University Technology Innovation Research Sub-center with Tsinghua University (Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education), and the sub-center of Innovation Management and Sustainable Competitiveness Research Center with Zhejiang University (National Philosophy and Social Science Innovation Research Base).
The college has successively established cooperation with domestic and overseas prestigious business colleges, which include Harvard Business School, Business School of Illinois State University, Management School of Sweden's Gavle University, School of Accounting of Tohoku University, Taiwan Yuanzhi University School of Management, Tsinghua University School of Economics, Fudan University School of Management, Zhejiang University School of Management, and Chongqing University School of Economics and Business Administration.
Since the 'Twelfth Five-Year Plan,' the College has successively won more than 70 scientific research projects at provincial and ministerial level, such as projects of National Natural Science Fund, the National Social Science Fund, the National Soft Science Project, the Humanities and Social Sciences Fund of the Ministry of Education, the Huo Yingdong Education Fund, the Soft Science Project of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Governor's Fund, and the major bidding projects of Provincial Social Science and Provincial Soft Science projects. The research funding has been ranked first in the humanities and social sciences of Guizhou University. The College has published over 600 academic papers in the periodicals of SSCI, SCI, EI, CSSCI and international and domestic academic conferences. It also has published more than 20 textbooks with the China Social Science Press, Economic Science Press, China Economic Publishing House, and Social Science Literature Publishing House. The College has obtained over 30 awards, which are the Third Prize of Outstanding Achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the Rural Development Research Award, the First Prize for Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences in Guizhou Province, and the Excellent Decision Achievement Award in Guizhou Province.
