Guizhou University, a century-old academic university, has been passed generation to generation. Guizhou University (GZU) was founded in 1902 as Guizhou Institute of Higher Learning. During the period of National Guizhou University,“Guizhou University” was formally inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong in November, 1951. It is first included under the national “Project 211” in September, 2005 and then the National world-class University in September, 2017. GZU is also recognized as an institution of higher learning developed through ministerial-provincial cooperation between the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province in February, 2018.

The school then establishes a high-level team of professional full-time and part-time teachers and experts, management team, as well as a good training practical teaching environment. The school closely combines the needs of national economic and social development. With the purpose of serving local economic development and according to the needs of government, enterprises and institutions, the school carries out training for leading cadres, middle and senior management personnel of enterprises, and professional technical personnel, etc.So far, more than 150,000 people have been trained for government departments at all levels, and the departments of political and law systems, banks and finance, construction, education, electricity, tobacco, liquor and other industries as well as large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises.
The 19th National Congress of the CPC made a major decision and deployment of “implementing the rural revitalization strategy”. On April 9, 2018, Guizhou University established the “College of Rural Revitalization” and its executive agency was set up in School of Continuing Education. The establishment of the Rural Revitalization College will provide talent and intellectual support for Guizhou Province to fight the “targeted poverty alleviation campaign”, and consolidate the foundation of “rural revitalization”and build a “beautiful countryside”.
